All All Office of School Health (OSH) nurses are required to have current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR for Healthcare Providers course completion card. AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR for Healthcare Providers course completion cards are valid for two years and must remain current.
The DOHMH has a current contract with Emergency Skills, Inc. (ESI). The training provided by ESI meets the OSH requirement for OSH nurses.
In addition to the lay rescuer courses that ESI offers in the schools, we offer the AHA BLS CPR for the Healthcare Provider course in our Manhattan office periodically. To register for a traditional classroom course, please visit:
ESI also offers the AHA blended learning course for the BLS CPR for the Healthcare Provider which is composed of 3 parts:
Online cognitive training including videos and written test
Skills practice with an AHA Instructor (held at ESI’s office)
Skills test with an AHA Instructor (held at ESI’s office following skills practice)

OSH School nurses are eligible for tuition reimbursement for this CPR training.
A Tuition Reimbursement form may be submitted to Fax 347-396-8947 with copy of completion card and receipt of payment.
